Friday Art – Pastels & Water Colours: We have a lot of fun at our art classes. Whether you’re a beginner or have many years’ experience, call or come in for a look and a chat. You’ll be most welcome! We have very talented teachers who are willing to share, to demonstrate, and to bring out the best in their students. But, if you’re happy to just come along and paint, we’d love to have you! We advertise water colours and pastels, but our teachers are more than happy to discuss a variety of mediums. Many artworks are on display at our Centre and many are for sale – they make lovely gifts.
Water Colours is held in the Craft Room from 9.00am to 12.00noon.
Pastels is held in the Bowls Room from 9.00am to 12 noon.
Woodburning Pyrography – The art of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated tool. Also called Wood Burning and means “writing with fire”.
Are you looking for a fascinating new hobby? Not an artist? Can’t draw a straight line with a ruler? Don’t let this deter you. You can have lots of fun discovering your “inner artist” by creating your own design or tracing your favourite picture. It is not an expensive hobby, all you need is a wood burning kit, some clean pieces of wood and the power of your imagination! Still not sure? You are welcome to come and talk to us or you can check out some of our work which is displayed in the showcase in the Reception area and is for sale. Who knows, maybe this is the hobby that has eluded you. If you have a special request, one of our many talented wood burners will be happy to oblige. Our members are always ready to lend a hand in cutting wood for us to burn or letting us know where to obtain it from.
Tuesday in the Memorial Hall from 9.00am to 12.00noon – Convenor: Kim
Woodwork: The Centre has a big woodwork shed, with up-to-date equipment which can handle most small jobs. It is open to all members of the club, and is a great place to come for some help with a DIY item. The members produce some lovely work, and often make items to be sold at our annual Craft Show. Come in and join the members in the woodwork shed, you will be made very welcome. The canteen is open for a cuppa, and lunch too so give it a try. Hope to see you soon.
